Which country has Gaborone as its capital city?
Answer
Botswana
Answer
Botswana
Botswana has Gaborone as its capital city.
Gaborone lies in southeastern Botswana near the country’s border with South Africa. It became the capital when Botswana gained independence from the United Kingdom on 30 September 1966, replacing the colonial-era administrative centre of Mafeking outside the territory.
The city was selected partly because of its location near railway links, water supplies and the southeastern population corridor. Gaborone has since grown into Botswana’s main centre for government, business, education and transport.
Botswana is a landlocked country in southern Africa, famous for the Okavango Delta, the Kalahari region and extensive wildlife areas. Gaborone is often confused with capitals in neighbouring countries: Windhoek is Namibia’s capital, Lusaka is Zambia’s, and Harare is Zimbabwe’s.
