Which country established Yellowstone National Park in 1872?
Answer
United States
Answer
United States
The United States established Yellowstone National Park in 1872.
Located mainly in Wyoming, with smaller sections in Montana and Idaho, Yellowstone became the world’s first national park. President Ulysses S. Grant signed the Yellowstone National Park Protection Act on March 1, 1872, setting aside the area for public enjoyment and protection.
Yellowstone is known for geysers, hot springs, mud pots, waterfalls, and a large range of wildlife. Its volcanic geology is connected to a massive caldera system, and the park contains the famous Old Faithful geyser, which erupts at fairly predictable intervals but not at perfectly fixed times.
The national-park idea later spread internationally. Yellowstone is not the oldest protected natural area of any kind, and some places had been protected for cultural or scenic reasons earlier. Its distinction is being the first area formally designated as a national park.
