MotoGP rider Fabio Quartararo represents France.
Quartararo was born in Nice, France, on 20 April 1999, and competes under the French flag in international motorcycle racing. He became the first French rider to win the premier-class MotoGP world championship, taking the title with Yamaha in 2021.
His early career crossed national borders. He began riding in France at age four, then moved to Spain to compete in junior championships, where he won several titles before entering the world championship. That Spanish racing experience sometimes causes confusion about his nationality, but racing in Spain did not change the country he represents.
Quartararo also has Sicilian family roots through his father’s side, another detail that can prompt mix-ups with Italy. In competition records, however, his nationality is French. His nickname, “El Diablo,” reflects his Spanish-language racing environment rather than a different national identity.
