Which country contains the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue?

The story behind the answer

India contains the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue.

The monument stands near Kevadia in Gujarat, overlooking the Narmada River and the Sardar Sarovar Dam. It depicts Vallabhbhai Patel, an Indian independence leader and the country’s first deputy prime minister. The statue was inaugurated on 31 October 2018.

The structure is 182 metres tall, representing the 182 seats in the Gujarat Legislative Assembly at the time of its conception. Including its base, the monument reaches about 240 metres. Architect Ram V. Sutar designed it, and Larsen & Toubro led its construction.

The Statue of Unity is sometimes confused with the Spring Temple Buddha in China, which held the height record before the Indian monument opened. The monument’s location also forms part of a large tourism and memorial complex.
