Which country contains the Gran Sabana, the plateau landscape surrounding Mount Roraima?

The story behind the answer

Venezuela contains the Gran Sabana, the plateau landscape surrounding Mount Roraima.

The Gran Sabana is a broad highland region in southeastern Venezuela, within Canaima National Park. It is famous for flat-topped sandstone mountains called tepuis, dramatic waterfalls, savannas, and unusual plant species adapted to isolated tabletop habitats.

Mount Roraima stands at the meeting point of Venezuela, Guyana, and Brazil. Although the mountain is shared by three countries, its summit and most of the accessible Gran Sabana landscape are associated with Venezuela’s Canaima region. This geographic distinction is a frequent source of confusion.

Canaima National Park was established in 1962 and became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1994. The park also includes Angel Falls, which drops from Auyán-tepui rather than from Mount Roraima.
