Which country contains Angel Falls, the world’s highest uninterrupted waterfall?

The story behind the answer

Venezuela contains Angel Falls, the world’s highest uninterrupted waterfall.

Angel Falls drops from Auyán-tepui in Venezuela’s Canaima National Park. Its total height is 979 metres, including a 807-metre uninterrupted plunge. The waterfall is fed by rainwater flowing over the flat summit of the sandstone plateau.

The falls are known locally as Kerepakupai Merú, a name from the Indigenous Pemón language. The English name honours American aviator Jimmy Angel, whose 1937 landing on Auyán-tepui helped bring international attention to the site.

Angel Falls is sometimes confused with the world’s tallest waterfall measured by different criteria, such as total cumulative drop or seasonal flow. Its standard record is specifically the highest uninterrupted waterfall, not necessarily the broadest or most powerful.
