The country code top-level domain for Tuvalu is .tv.
The suffix was introduced in 1996 as Tuvalu’s Internet country code. It became unusually valuable because “TV” is also a familiar abbreviation for television, making the domain attractive to broadcasters, streaming services, video creators and entertainment companies.
Tuvalu’s government sought to benefit commercially from the domain in the late 1990s by working with outside registry and marketing partners. Although .tv is technically country-specific, it is available for broad commercial use and is not limited to organizations based in Tuvalu. Google has treated it as a generic-looking domain because many users associate it with television rather than geography.
The alternatives are country-code domains for other places: .tk belongs to Tokelau, .tl to Timor-Leste and .to to Tonga. That makes .tv the single canonical answer for Tuvalu.
