Which continent is Benin on?

Benin is in Africa, specifically in West Africa.

The country forms a narrow north–south strip along the Gulf of Guinea. It borders Togo to the west, Nigeria to the east, and Burkina Faso and Niger to the north. Its southern coastline gives Benin access to the Atlantic Ocean through the Bight of Benin.

Benin was formerly known as Dahomey, a powerful West African kingdom whose capital was Abomey. In 1975, the modern country adopted the name Benin, inspired by the historic Benin Empire farther east in present-day Nigeria.

Benin is sometimes confused with Nigeria because the two countries share a long eastern border and strong cultural and commercial connections. Geographically, however, Benin is an independent country in West Africa, not a region or city within Nigeria.
