Which console was the original Pokémon Stadium released for?

The story behind the answer

The original Pokémon Stadium was released for the Nintendo 64.

Developed by Nintendo and HAL Laboratory, Pokémon Stadium was first released in Japan in 1998. It brought Pokémon battles into a 3D arena, allowing players to watch attacks and animations on a home console rather than on the Game Boy’s small screen.

The Japanese version supported transfers from Pokémon Red, Green, Blue, and Yellow through the Nintendo 64 Transfer Pak. Players could use compatible Pokémon from their handheld games in Stadium’s battles and tournaments. The international release was based on the expanded Japanese Pokémon Stadium 2, but it was marketed simply as Pokémon Stadium.

The game included stadium cups, Gym Leader Castle challenges, multiplayer battles, and several mini-games. It helped demonstrate how Pokémon from the original Game Boy games could be presented in a larger 3D format.
