Which console was home to the 1999 video game Pokémon Stadium?

The story behind the answer

The 1999 video game Pokémon Stadium was released for the Nintendo 64.

Developed and published by Nintendo, the game presented Pokémon battles in 3D and used the Nintendo 64’s hardware for arenas, animations, and multiplayer play. It featured all 151 species from Pokémon Red, Green, and Blue, and also connected to the Game Boy games through the Transfer Pak accessory.

Players could upload compatible Pokémon from the handheld games, then view, organize, trade, and battle with them on the Nintendo 64. The game also included four Cups, Gym Leader Castle challenges, and minigames, making it more than a simple battle viewer.

Pokémon Stadium’s title can cause confusion because Japan had an earlier Nintendo 64 game called Pocket Monsters Stadium in 1998. The internationally released Pokémon Stadium followed that title in Japan in 1999 and reached Australia, Europe, and North America in 2000. Its console, however, remained the Nintendo 64.
