Which console received the original Pokémon Snap when it first launched?

The original Pokémon Snap first launched on the Nintendo 64.

Developed by HAL Laboratory, Pokémon Snap places the player in the role of photographer Todd Snap. Instead of catching Pokémon, the player rides through Pokémon Island in the Zero-One vehicle and photographs creatures in their natural environments.

The game first released in Japan on March 21, 1999, followed by North America in July of that year. Its real-time 3D Pokémon and photography-focused gameplay made it one of the franchise’s earliest major console spin-offs.

Players’ photographs were judged by Professor Oak for factors such as size, pose and positioning. The game is sometimes confused with New Pokémon Snap, a separate Nintendo Switch sequel released in 2021.
