Which console is Splatoon Raiders being made for?

The story behind the answer

Splatoon Raiders is being made for the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo presents it as a system-exclusive entry rather than a release for the original Nintendo Switch, Wii U, or Nintendo 3DS.

The game shifts Splatoon’s familiar ink-based shooting into a primarily single-player treasure-hunting adventure. Players take the role of a customizable Mechanic who explores the mysterious Spirhalite Islands, gathers salvage, upgrades equipment, and battles waves of Salmonids.

Although it is focused on solo play, Raiders is not entirely offline or solitary. Nintendo describes local wireless and online options supporting up to four players, with players able to call for help or join another raider’s expedition. The game therefore combines a story-driven campaign with optional cooperative play.

The Switch 2 connection is also important technically: the game is designed for that newer hardware and is marketed as an exclusive. That makes “Nintendo Switch” an understandable but incorrect choice, since the two systems are distinct platforms.
