Which console hosted the Japanese release of Pokémon Stadium on April 30, 1999?

The story behind the answer

The Japanese release of Pokémon Stadium on April 30, 1999, was hosted on the Nintendo 64.

Pokémon Stadium brought three-dimensional, turn-based Pokémon battles to Nintendo’s home console. It used the 151 Pokémon from the Game Boy games Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow, alongside tournaments, Gym Leader Castle challenges, and minigames.

The game also supported the Transfer Pak, an accessory that connected a Nintendo 64 controller to compatible Game Boy cartridges. Players could upload Pokémon from the handheld games and use them in Stadium battles, giving the two platforms a direct relationship.

The Japanese release was effectively the second Stadium title in that market, following the Japan-only Pocket Monsters Stadium. The internationally released Pokémon Stadium arrived in North America and Europe in 2000.
