Which console hosted the first Pokémon Stadium game released outside Japan?
Answer
Nintendo 64
Answer
Nintendo 64
The first Pokémon Stadium game released outside Japan was hosted on the Nintendo 64. Western regions received Pokémon Stadium in 2000 after its Japanese release in 1999.
Pokémon Stadium presented turn-based Pokémon battles in 3D and used the Nintendo 64’s graphics capabilities. The game supported Pokémon from Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow through the Transfer Pak accessory, allowing players to use compatible teams from their Game Boy cartridges.
The title can cause confusion because Japan had an earlier, Japan-only Nintendo 64 release called Pocket Monsters Stadium in 1998. The internationally released Pokémon Stadium was effectively a later version and was the first Stadium-branded game available to Western players. Pokémon Stadium 2 followed in 2000 and added compatibility with Pokémon Gold, Silver, and Crystal.
