Which console hosted Pokémon Stadium’s 3D battles?

The story behind the answer

Pokémon Stadium’s 3D battles were hosted on the Nintendo 64.

Nintendo released Pokémon Stadium in Japan in 1999 as a strategy game centered on three-dimensional, turn-based Pokémon battles. It used the Nintendo 64’s hardware to display Pokémon in arenas rather than the two-dimensional battle scenes of the Game Boy titles.

The game featured the 151 Pokémon from Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow. Players could also connect compatible Game Boy games through the Transfer Pak, allowing Pokémon from those cartridges to appear in the Nintendo 64 game.

The title can cause confusion because Japan originally received a different Pokémon Stadium release before the internationally released version. The Nintendo 64 game was not a main-series role-playing game; it focused primarily on battles, tournaments, minigames, and related challenges. Its 3D presentation helped show how the franchise could move beyond handheld screens.
