Which composer scored Mission: Impossible 2?

Hans Zimmer scored Mission: Impossible 2.

Released in 2000, the film was directed by John Woo and starred Tom Cruise as IMF agent Ethan Hunt. Zimmer composed the original motion-picture score, blending orchestral writing with electronic and rock-oriented sounds that suited the film's heightened action style. Lisa Gerrard contributed vocal material to several cues.

A common source of confusion is the franchise theme. Lalo Schifrin wrote the iconic Mission: Impossible theme for the original television series, and that theme is used in the film, but Schifrin did not compose the full Mission: Impossible 2 score. Zimmer's soundtrack album was released as Mission: Impossible 2 – Music from the Original Motion Picture Score.

The film's music also involved several collaborators, including Klaus Badelt, Heitor Pereira, Jeff Rona, and others associated with Zimmer's production team. That broader musical team does not change the credited composer answer: Hans Zimmer is the canonical response to the question of who scored the film.
