Which composer collaborated with Paul McCartney on 'Liverpool Oratorio'?

Carl Davis collaborated with Paul McCartney on Liverpool Oratorio.

The project began after McCartney and conductor Davis met through mutual friends in 1988. It was created to commemorate the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra's 150th anniversary, and the work premiered at Liverpool Cathedral in June 1991. McCartney wrote the musical material, while Davis helped shape the large-scale classical production and conducted performances.

The oratorio is an eight-movement work whose story loosely follows a Liverpool-born character named Shanty. Its themes include childhood, school, family, work, marriage and parenthood, giving the piece a partly autobiographical flavour without being a direct account of McCartney's life.

A common mix-up is to identify Davis merely as the conductor. He was also McCartney's creative collaborator, and the album credits list the pieces as written by McCartney and Davis. The live album was released on 7 October 1991 and features major classical singers including Kiri Te Kanawa and Willard White.
