PepsiCo sponsors the Jacksons’ 1984 Victory Tour in Michael (2026 film).
The film shows boxing promoter Don King proposing the Victory Tour as a way to reunite the Jackson brothers. King then offers Joseph Jackson a PepsiCo sponsorship deal on the condition that Michael joins the tour.
The sponsorship storyline leads directly to the commercial shoot in which a pyrotechnic spark sets Michael’s hair on fire. He suffers third-degree burns and nerve damage, and the film later depicts a legal settlement with PepsiCo.
PepsiCo is sometimes confused with the record companies in the film. Motown and Epic Records handle different stages of Jackson’s music career, while PepsiCo is the consumer brand connected with the tour sponsorship and advertisement. The Victory Tour is shown as a family reunion that Michael eventually joins after recovering.
