THQ published the 2001 game Tetris Worlds. The company released the game across several platforms, including Game Boy Advance, Windows, PlayStation 2, GameCube, and Xbox, under license from The Tetris Company.
Tetris Worlds was not one single internally developed project. Blue Planet Software handled the PC and PlayStation 2 versions, Radical Entertainment developed the GameCube and Xbox editions, and 3d6 Games created the Game Boy Advance version. THQ published all of them.
The game expanded the familiar falling-block formula with six themed worlds and story elements involving the Minos, a fictional alien civilization. Its platform releases arrived over 2001 and 2002, so it is sometimes confused with later THQ-published Tetris games such as Tetris Advance and Tetris Evolution.
Atari, Sega, and Nintendo were important companies in Tetris history, but none was the publisher of Tetris Worlds. Nintendo published the well-known 1989 Game Boy Tetris, while Atari handled other licensed versions at different times.
