Which company owns the Lynx snowmobile brand?

The story behind the answer

The company that owns the Lynx snowmobile brand is BRP, or Bombardier Recreational Products.

Lynx is a Finnish snowmobile marque whose first sleds were introduced by Velsa Oy in Kurikka in 1968. The brand later became part of BRP, the Canadian recreational-vehicle manufacturer best known for Ski-Doo snowmobiles, Sea-Doo watercraft, Can-Am vehicles, and Rotax engines.

Lynx and Ski-Doo are closely related but are not the same brand. Modern Lynx sleds use many BRP technologies and are generally built around Ski-Doo-derived platforms and Rotax powerplants. Lynx differentiates its machines with features such as the PPS rear suspension, developed for demanding Nordic terrain and rougher conditions.

The brand is especially associated with sport, crossover, touring, and utility snowmobiles sold in Europe and other markets. A common mistake is to identify Lynx as a Polaris or Arctic Cat subsidiary simply because all four companies compete in the same snowmobile market. Lynx’s corporate home is BRP.
