Inditex owns the fashion retailers Zara, Massimo Dutti and Pull&Bear.
Inditex is short for Industria de Diseño Textil, S.A., a Spanish multinational fashion group headquartered in Arteixo, Galicia. Its best-known brand is Zara, but the group’s portfolio also includes Bershka, Stradivarius, Oysho and Zara Home.
The group grew from the business created by Amancio Ortega and Rosalía Mera. Zara began with a store in A Coruña in 1975, while Inditex was established as a corporate group in 1985. Its model emphasizes short production cycles, frequent store deliveries and close links between stores and design operations.
Inditex is often confused with Fast Retailing, the Japanese parent company of Uniqlo, or H&M Group, the Swedish owner of H&M. Those businesses compete globally but are separate companies.
