Which company operates the Internet Archive, the nonprofit behind the Wayback Machine?
Answer
Internet Archive
Answer
Internet Archive
The Internet Archive operates the Wayback Machine, a nonprofit digital archive of the web and other media.
Brewster Kahle founded the Internet Archive in 1996. Its web archive stores historical snapshots of websites, allowing users to see how pages looked at earlier dates when archived captures are available.
The Wayback Machine is only one part of the organization’s work. The Internet Archive also preserves books, audio, video, software, and other digital materials. Its collections are accessed through the archive.org website.
A saved page is not necessarily a complete copy of everything on the original site. Images, scripts, interactive features, or content blocked from crawling may be missing. The archive therefore documents portions of web history rather than guaranteeing a perfect reconstruction of every page.
