Which company joined the film series as a production company starting with Ghost Protocol?

The story behind the answer

Skydance joined the Mission: Impossible film series as a production company beginning with Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol.

The company was then known as Skydance Productions and worked with Paramount Pictures, Bad Robot, and Tom Cruise’s TC Productions on the fourth film. Ghost Protocol was released in 2011 and marked a significant expansion of the franchise’s production partnership structure.

Skydance continued its association with later entries, including Rogue Nation, Fallout, Dead Reckoning Part One, and The Final Reckoning. In series credits and later corporate branding, the name is commonly shortened to Skydance, while older Ghost Protocol materials may specify Skydance Productions.

This credit is easy to confuse with the distributor or other co-producers. Paramount Pictures distributed the films and remained the franchise’s studio, while Bad Robot and TC Productions also participated in Ghost Protocol. New Line Cinema, Amblin Partners, and Legendary Pictures were not the company that joined this series at that point.
