Google is the company headquartered at the Googleplex in Mountain View.
The Googleplex is Google's corporate headquarters complex at 1600 Amphitheatre Parkway. The name combines “Google” with “complex,” while also echoing “googolplex,” the enormous number associated with the company’s name. Alphabet, Google's parent company, is headquartered there as well.
Google began leasing the site in 2003, when the property was still associated with Silicon Graphics (SGI). Google purchased the complex in 2006 for $319 million. The campus is known for its sprawling, low-rise layout and unusual employee amenities, including cafeterias, gardens, sports facilities and Android-themed statues.
A common mix-up is confusing the Googleplex with Google's other major campuses. Google has substantial offices in New York and elsewhere, but the Googleplex specifically refers to its Mountain View headquarters. It is also different from Google’s nearby “The Quad” campus, another Mountain View location.
