Which company introduced the first iPhone in 2007?

The story behind the answer

Apple Inc. introduced the first iPhone in 2007.

Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs unveiled the original iPhone on January 9, 2007, during the Macworld Conference & Expo in San Francisco. The device combined a mobile phone, an iPod, and an internet communicator in one product, while replacing most physical controls with a finger-operated multitouch screen.

The first-generation iPhone went on sale in the United States on June 29, 2007, through Cingular Wireless, which later became part of AT&T. It launched with 4GB and 8GB storage options and required a two-year service contract. At the time, the touchscreen interface, visual voicemail, and desktop-style web browsing made it markedly different from many phones built around keyboards or styluses.

The answer is Apple Inc., not Samsung, Google, or Microsoft. Samsung later became one of Apple’s biggest smartphone rivals, Google developed Android, and Microsoft had its own mobile software efforts, but none introduced the original iPhone.
