Nvidia, founded in 1993, became a market-capitalization giant through graphics processors and artificial-intelligence hardware.
Nvidia began by developing graphics-processing technology for personal computers and games. Its GeForce products helped make programmable GPUs a central part of modern gaming, while the company’s CUDA software platform allowed developers to use those processors for general-purpose parallel computing.
That capability became especially valuable for artificial-intelligence workloads, which involve performing huge numbers of calculations across large datasets. Nvidia’s data-center products, networking equipment, and software ecosystem positioned it as a leading supplier for AI development and deployment.
Its market capitalization rose sharply as investors anticipated strong demand for accelerated computing. Market value can grow faster than current earnings when investors expect a company’s future profits and competitive position to expand.
