Which company develops the Just Dance series?

Ubisoft develops the Just Dance series. The company’s Paris studio created the original game, while later entries have involved several Ubisoft teams, including studios in Milan, Bucharest, Montpellier, Pune, Shanghai, and Bordeaux.

The series began with Just Dance for Wii in 2009. Its central idea was simple: players mimic choreography performed by an on-screen dancer and receive scores based on how accurately they follow the routine. That accessible design helped the games appeal to families, casual players, and party groups as well as dedicated gamers.

Ubisoft is both the developer and publisher associated with the main Just Dance series. Nintendo published certain Japan-exclusive versions, such as Just Dance Wii, but that regional publishing role does not make Nintendo the company behind the franchise. Activision and Electronic Arts have published or developed other major music and rhythm games, which can make those names plausible distractors.

The series became a major Ubisoft property. By November 2022, the Just Dance games had collectively sold more than 80 million units, making the franchise one of Ubisoft’s largest, behind Assassin’s Creed.
