Which company developed the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon video-game series?
Answer
Spike Chunsoft
Answer
Spike Chunsoft
Spike Chunsoft developed the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon video-game series.
The series began with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Blue Rescue Team for Nintendo DS and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Red Rescue Team for Game Boy Advance in 2005. These games were developed by Chunsoft, the company that later became Spike Chunsoft after a merger and corporate restructuring.
Unlike the main Pokémon role-playing games, Mystery Dungeon titles place the player directly in control of a Pokémon. A personality test commonly determines the player character, and randomly generated dungeons create a roguelike structure with turn-based movement, battles, items, and rescue missions.
The series grew from Chunsoft’s wider Mystery Dungeon franchise, which includes games such as Shiren the Wanderer and earlier Dragon Quest spin-offs. Pokémon Mystery Dungeon adapted that dungeon-crawling formula for Pokémon characters and stories. Later entries appeared on multiple Nintendo systems, including the Nintendo Switch remake Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Rescue Team DX.
