Which company developed the Chrome web browser?
Answer
Answer
Google developed the Chrome web browser.
Google Chrome is a cross-platform browser created by Google and first released in 2008. It was designed for a web increasingly filled with interactive applications, so Google emphasized speed, stability, security, and a streamlined interface. Chrome initially launched for Microsoft Windows before expanding to Linux, macOS, Android, iOS, and other platforms.
Much of Chrome’s code comes from Chromium, Google’s free and open-source browser project. Chrome itself is distributed as proprietary freeware, while Chromium supplies the foundation for Chrome and several other browsers. Google also developed the V8 JavaScript engine, which helped Chrome handle complex web applications efficiently.
The browser’s original rendering technology was based on Apple’s WebKit. Google later developed Blink, a rendering engine used by Chrome on most platforms. On Apple’s iPhone and iPad, however, browsers must use Apple’s WebKit-based browser-engine rules, so Chrome’s iOS implementation differs internally from desktop Chrome.
Mozilla created Firefox, Microsoft created Edge, and Apple created Safari; those are separate browsers despite overlapping features.
