Which company developed the answer engine WolframAlpha?
Answer
Wolfram Research
Answer
Wolfram Research
Wolfram Research developed the answer engine WolframAlpha.
WolframAlpha is an online knowledge and answer engine created by the American technology company Wolfram Research. Rather than mainly returning a ranked list of webpages, it interprets a query, draws on curated data, and computes an answer, often displaying formulas, charts, units, and related results.
The service grew from the company’s earlier technical-computing platform, Mathematica, which Stephen Wolfram released in 1988. WolframAlpha officially launched in May 2009 and uses the Wolfram Language, together with databases assembled from sources such as government publications, scientific references, financial data, and other curated collections. This foundation lets it handle both factual questions and mathematical or scientific calculations.
People sometimes confuse Wolfram Research with Stephen Wolfram, the company’s founder and chief executive. Stephen Wolfram conceived and led the project, but the quiz asks which company developed it, making Wolfram Research the canonical answer. WolframAlpha has also powered or supported integrations with products including Siri, Bing, and DuckDuckGo at different times.
