Which company developed Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow for the Game Boy?
Answer
Game Freak
Answer
Game Freak
Game Freak developed Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow for the Game Boy.
Game Freak is the Japanese video-game developer co-founded by Satoshi Tajiri and Ken Sugimori. The studio created the original Pokémon role-playing games, while Nintendo published them and supported their release on Game Boy hardware.
The development and publishing roles are distinct. Game Freak handled the game’s design and programming, whereas Nintendo was the publisher and hardware manufacturer. Creatures later became another important company in the Pokémon business structure, especially through development support and Pokémon-related production.
Pokémon Red and Blue were the international counterparts to the Japanese Red and Green releases. Pokémon Yellow followed as an enhanced version inspired partly by the anime, with Pikachu accompanying the player outside its Poké Ball. All three early titles belong to the Game Boy era that established Pokémon as a major game series.
