Nvidia designed the Hopper H100 graphics processor used in artificial-intelligence computing.
The H100 is a data-center graphics processing unit, or GPU, based on Nvidia’s Hopper architecture. Nvidia introduced the Hopper platform in 2022, and the H100 became a prominent accelerator for training and running large artificial-intelligence models. Its importance helped drive a dramatic rise in Nvidia’s market capitalization.
Nvidia was founded in 1993 by Jensen Huang, Chris Malachowsky, and Curtis Priem. The company originally focused on graphics hardware for personal computers and video games. Its CUDA software platform later allowed developers to use Nvidia GPUs for general-purpose parallel computing, helping make the hardware valuable for scientific workloads and AI. The H100 is not a consumer graphics card like those sold for gaming PCs; it is designed for data centers and demanding computational workloads.
