Which company created the JavaScript programming language?
Answer
Netscape
Answer
Netscape
Netscape created the JavaScript programming language. The company commissioned Brendan Eich to develop a scripting language for its Netscape Navigator browser, and Eich produced the first prototype in 1995 while working at Netscape.
The language was initially called Mocha, then LiveScript, before Netscape and Sun Microsystems announced the JavaScript name. Despite the similar branding, JavaScript is not a version of Java: the two languages have different designs, histories, and implementations.
JavaScript quickly became central to interactive web pages because it could run inside a browser and respond to user actions without requiring every interaction to reload a page from a server. Netscape later submitted JavaScript to Ecma International for standardization, producing the ECMAScript specification. Today, JavaScript remains the standard scripting language of web browsers and is also widely used on servers, in mobile apps, and in desktop software.
