Which college did 2026 deadline candidate Casey Mize attend before the Tigers drafted him?

Casey Mize attended Auburn University before the Detroit Tigers drafted him.

Mize played college baseball for Auburn from 2016 through 2018 and became one of the most highly regarded pitchers in the program’s history. In 2018, he was a consensus All-American, a finalist for the Golden Spikes Award, and a first-team All-SEC selection.

The Tigers selected Mize first overall in the 2018 MLB draft, making him Auburn’s first No. 1 overall baseball pick. He was also only the second two-time All-American in Auburn baseball history at the time. Detroit chose him after a junior season in which he led the SEC with 151 strikeouts.

The other options belong to different players’ backgrounds: Tarik Skubal attended Seattle University, while Vanderbilt is associated with many prominent draft prospects but not Mize. Mize made his major-league debut for Detroit in 2020.
