Which club did Pelé spend most of his career with?

The story behind the answer

Pelé spent most of his career with Santos FC. He joined the Brazilian club as a teenager in 1956 and remained there until 1974, becoming the central figure of one of football’s most celebrated teams.

With Santos, Pelé won multiple Campeonato Brasileiro and Campeonato Paulista titles, two Copa Libertadores trophies, and two Intercontinental Cups. The club’s brilliant attacking team, often called Os Santásticos, toured internationally and helped make Pelé a global star.

A common mix-up is confusing Santos with the clubs associated with Pelé later in life. After leaving Brazil, he played for the New York Cosmos from 1975 to 1977. He did not spend the bulk of his professional career with São Paulo, Corinthians, or Flamengo.
