Juventus defeated Paris Saint-Germain in PSG’s first UEFA Super Cup appearance.
The meeting was the 1996 edition, contested because Paris had won the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup and Juventus had won the UEFA Champions League. Juventus won 6–1 in the first leg and 3–1 in the second, for a 9–2 aggregate victory.
Both matches were played in early 1997, even though the contest is identified as the 1996 UEFA Super Cup. This timing reflects the competition’s earlier two-legged format, which differed from the single-match final used in 2026.
Paris eventually returned to the Super Cup in 2025 and won its first title against Tottenham Hotspur. The club then defeated Aston Villa in 2026 to retain the trophy.
