Chelsea completed the 2026–27 Premier League opening match round by playing Fulham on 24 August 2026.
Fulham hosted Chelsea at Craven Cottage in the final fixture of the opening round. The Monday-night match kicked off at 20:00 BST and ended with Chelsea winning 3–2.
The league’s first round was spread across four days: Arsenal v Coventry City opened the season on Friday, five matches were played on Saturday, three on Sunday, and Fulham v Chelsea finished the round on Monday.
Chelsea’s victory meant that the opening round ended with a five-goal London derby-style meeting. It should not be confused with Crystal Palace’s visit to Everton, another London-linked fixture played on the Saturday.
