Which climate zone has high temperatures and heavy rainfall year-round?
Answer
Tropical rainforest
Answer
Tropical rainforest
The climate zone with high temperatures and heavy rainfall year-round is the tropical rainforest climate.
Also called an equatorial climate, it is typically found near the Equator, where intense sunlight and rising moist air fuel frequent convectional rain. Under the Köppen climate classification, it is labeled Af. Every month generally averages at least 60 millimeters of precipitation, and there is no true dry season.
Temperatures remain consistently warm: mean monthly temperatures are usually above 18°C. Daily temperature changes can be more noticeable than seasonal changes, because day length and solar heating vary relatively little through the year. Locations with this climate include parts of the Amazon Basin, the Congo Basin, Indonesia, and many Pacific islands.
Rainforests are not the same as all tropical forests. Tropical monsoon and savanna climates can also support forests, but they have a pronounced dry season. Mediterranean climates have dry summers, tundra is cold, and deserts are defined by aridity rather than year-round heavy rain.
