Which clan attacks the merchant convoy in Avatar: Fire and Ash?

The clan that attacks the merchant convoy in Avatar: Fire and Ash is the Mangkwan.

Also known as the Ash People, the Mangkwan are a newly introduced Na’vi clan associated with volcanic terrain, fire, and ash. Their attack on the convoy brings Jake Sully, Neytiri, their children, and their allies into direct conflict with a powerful Na’vi society that is hostile to other clans.

The Mangkwan’s role is significant because Fire and Ash complicates the earlier films’ broad contrast between the human RDA and the Na’vi. James Cameron described the new clan as a way to show that Na’vi communities can also be divided by violence, ideology, and rivalry.

The convoy belongs to the Wind Traders, a nomadic merchant group that travels through Pandora’s skies. The attackers are not the Metkayina, the reef clan introduced in The Way of Water; nor are they the Omaticaya or Olangi. “Mangkwan” is the specific clan name, while “Ash People” is their common descriptive label.
