Which civilization created the Nazca Lines in Peru?

The Nazca culture created the Nazca Lines in southern Peru.

The Nazca Lines are enormous geoglyphs made by removing the dark, weathered surface stones of the desert to reveal lighter ground beneath. They include straight lines, geometric shapes, plants, animals, and human-like figures. The main group lies on a high plateau between the towns of Nazca and Palpa.

Most of the lines were made during the period associated with the Nazca culture, roughly between 200 BCE and 600 CE. Their exact purpose remains debated, with proposed explanations involving ritual processions, water, landscape symbolism, and astronomy. The Inca came much later and did not create the original figures. Dry conditions and limited rainfall have helped preserve the geoglyphs for nearly two millennia.
