Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate hosts the city’s major New Year’s Eve open-air celebration.
The celebration is staged along the Straße des 17. Juni between the Brandenburg Gate and the Victory Column. It typically features live music, entertainment, food stalls, and a midnight fireworks display, although arrangements can change for safety or public-health reasons.
The Brandenburg Gate is especially symbolic because it stood in East Berlin during the division of Germany and became an emblem of reunification after the Berlin Wall fell. Its role in New Year’s festivities therefore combines a citywide party with a powerful national landmark.
The event is sometimes called “Party at the Brandenburg Gate,” but the exact branding and program may vary by year. It should not be confused with Berlin’s annual Christopher Street Day or other large events held at the same monument.
