Which city was Georgia O'Keeffe born in?

The story behind the answer

Georgia O'Keeffe was born in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin.

Sun Prairie is a small city near Madison, Wisconsin, where O'Keeffe was born in 1887. Her parents, Francis and Ida O'Keeffe, operated a dairy farm in the area, and she spent part of her childhood in the rural Midwest.

Although O'Keeffe later became strongly identified with New Mexico, her artistic story began in Wisconsin. She studied art in Chicago and New York before developing the abstract drawings that brought her early recognition. Her later paintings of flowers, bones, cliffs, and desert landscapes made New Mexico central to her public image.

Sun Prairie is not the same place as Madison, the nearby state capital, and it is not where O'Keeffe spent her final years. She moved through several American cities during her education and career, while Santa Fe became the location of the museum devoted to her work.
