New York City is the main home of Operation Sail’s America250 fleet gathering on July 4–8, 2026.
Operation Sail, commonly called OpSail, brings large sailing ships and naval vessels together for maritime celebrations. The 2026 edition was planned as part of the United States Semiquincentennial and was described as the largest gathering of tall ships since the 1976 Bicentennial.
The 2026 schedule included port calls in New Orleans, Norfolk, Baltimore, New York City, and Boston. New York City’s July 4–8 dates place its gathering directly across the central Independence Day period, making it one of the most prominent stops in the anniversary program.
The cities can be confused because each is an official port of call. New Orleans hosted May 28–June 1, Norfolk June 19–24, Baltimore June 25–July 1, and Boston July 11–16.
