New York City is scheduled to host the July 4–8, 2026 port call of Operation Sail for America’s 250th anniversary.
Operation Sail, commonly called OpSail, brings large sailing vessels and tall ships together for maritime celebrations. The 2026 program is planned as part of the United States semiquincentennial and includes port calls in several American cities before and after Independence Day.
The listed 2026 schedule includes New Orleans from May 28 to June 1, Norfolk from June 19 to 24, Baltimore from June 25 to July 1, New York City from July 4 to 8, and Boston from July 11 to 16. New York’s dates place its port call directly across the anniversary date.
The event is connected with earlier national celebrations. Operation Sail gatherings were held for the 1976 Bicentennial, making the 2026 fleet a maritime successor to a major celebration held 50 years earlier. The city answer is New York City, not New York state or Boston, which hosts the later July port call.
