Which city is home to the Mercedes-Benz Museum and the company's headquarters?

The story behind the answer

The city home to the Mercedes-Benz Museum and Mercedes-Benz’s headquarters is Stuttgart, Germany.

Stuttgart is closely tied to the company’s origins and identity. Gottlieb Daimler and Wilhelm Maybach developed important early engines in the region, while the Mercedes-Benz Group’s international headquarters is located in Stuttgart. The city also hosts major Mercedes-Benz facilities and the Untertürkheim plant complex.

The Mercedes-Benz Museum opened its current building on 19 May 2006 beside the factory in Stuttgart’s Untertürkheim district. Its architecture uses intersecting circular forms and a double-helix visitor route, allowing exhibitions to present both a chronological history and themed vehicle collections.

The museum is not simply a display of modern Mercedes cars. It covers the history of the automobile, the company’s racing heritage, commercial vehicles, and associated brands, with more than 160 vehicles in the collection. Frankfurt, Berlin, and Munich are major German cities, but none is the company’s headquarters city.
