Which city hosts South Africa’s Two Oceans Marathon?
Answer
Cape Town
Answer
Cape Town
Cape Town hosts South Africa’s Two Oceans Marathon.
The event is held in and around Cape Town, with routes associated with the city’s dramatic coastal and mountain scenery. Its name refers to the Indian and Atlantic oceans, which meet near the southern tip of Africa, although the exact race route does not simply run between two ocean shores.
The Two Oceans Marathon weekend includes an ultra-marathon and shorter races. The traditional ultra distance is 56 kilometres, making it longer than the standard 42.195-kilometre marathon.
Cape Town is also known for Table Mountain and the Cape Peninsula. Those geographic features help distinguish the Two Oceans event from South Africa’s Comrades Marathon, another famous long-distance race that is traditionally run between Durban and Pietermaritzburg.
