Which city hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics?
Answer
London
Answer
London
London hosted the 2012 Summer Olympics.
The Games took place from 27 July to 12 August 2012, with events centered largely in East London. London became the first city to host the modern Summer Olympics three times, following the 1908 and 1948 Games. The main Olympic Stadium was built in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford.
The 2012 program included 26 sports and more than 10,000 athletes representing over 200 national Olympic committees. The opening ceremony, directed by Danny Boyle, presented a theatrical history of Britain and featured music, literature, and industrial imagery. The Paralympic Games followed in the same city from 29 August to 9 September.
A frequent confusion concerns Beijing, which hosted the 2008 Summer Olympics and the 2022 Winter Olympics. Paris hosted the 2024 Summer Olympics, while Athens hosted the 2004 Games. London’s three Summer Olympic editions remain a distinctive record for the host city.
