Which Christian Dior line was named for the number 8?

The story behind the answer

Christian Dior’s line named for the number 8 was the En 8 line.

En 8 was one of the lines used to describe Dior’s early couture designs. The name is French for “in eight” and reflects Dior’s practice of giving collections or silhouettes distinctive labels rather than presenting every look under one generic description.

Dior’s first collection also included the Corolle line, a name referring to the corolla of a flower. Later designers at the house used other letter-based names, including the A Line and H Line, which can make the early terminology easy to mix up.

En 8 should not be confused with a collection named simply after the letter H or A. The number-based name belongs specifically to Dior’s early postwar vocabulary and is associated with the collection that helped establish his signature silhouette.
