Which character wins the final race in Pixar's Cars?

Chick Hicks wins the final race in Pixar's Cars.

At the climactic Piston Cup race, Lightning McQueen is close to victory when The King crashes. McQueen stops and helps the veteran racer, allowing Chick Hicks to pass both competitors and take the official win.

Although Chick receives the trophy, his victory is overshadowed by the audience's reaction. Fans condemn his aggressive behavior, while McQueen earns respect for choosing sportsmanship over the championship. McQueen then refuses to accept the Piston Cup as a replacement for The King's damaged trophy.

A common mix-up is saying McQueen wins the race because he is the film's hero. He does not officially win that event; Chick Hicks crosses the finish line first.
