Which character is House M.D.'s main diagnostic medicine specialist?
Answer
Gregory House
Answer
Gregory House
Gregory House is House M.D.’s main diagnostic medicine specialist.
House leads the Department of Diagnostic Medicine at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. He takes on rare, complicated cases that other doctors have been unable to solve, using differential diagnosis, testing, and close observation. His methods are often unconventional, and his abrasive personality creates conflicts with patients, colleagues, and administrators.
The character is played by Hugh Laurie and is the center of the series’ title and narrative. House walks with a cane because of chronic pain caused by an infarction in the quadriceps muscle of his right thigh. He also develops dependence on Vicodin, a recurring part of his character arc.
House’s name and methods intentionally echo Sherlock Holmes. Both characters are brilliant investigators who rely on deduction, notice details others overlook, and have a trusted friend who helps explain their behavior to the audience. House, however, solves medical cases rather than crimes.
